to and from the airport
As the airport is outside the city limits transportation can be an issue. Here a few recommendations that will hopefully make getting here a bit easier:
- Order an airport taxi: getting a cab only on a arrival can cost you up to 50€, an airport taxi that you order in advance cuts that price almost in half: http://www.vienna-airport-cab.at/index.php/en/
- CAT: the city airport train travels between the airport and the city center (16 minutes): https://www.cityairporttrain.com/en/home
- Vienna Airport Lines: get to the city center by bus, the stop at Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz is a 15 minute walk from the faculty building: http://www.postbus.at/en/Airportbus/Vienna_AirportLines/Morzinplatz/index.jsp
- Train: this is the cheapest option, though it also takes the longest; along the way there's a few stops where you can transfer to the subway (Wien Mitte; Praterstern; Handelskai)
Transportation within Vienna
Vienna has a well developed public transport system consisting of subways, trams, busses and trains. They are all maintained by Wiener Linien so you do not have to buy different tickets for the different services. For different short term ticket options click here.
Below you can see the subway map. Our faculty is located between the green U4 station "Roßauer Lände" and the violet U2 station "Schottenring".
